ACT members are community-minded folks, organizations, and businesses that believe in ACT’s mission of empowering and mobilizing communities to “act” in collaboration to prevent and delay first-time substance use and abuse among youth. Members know that by preventing first-time use in youth, we can reduce the rate of addiction across all ages and increase the overall health and well-being of our community.
Members collaborate to achieve ACT’s goals of 1. Increasing community collaboration and 2. Reducing youth substance use. Through a strategic prevention framework, annual action plans, and rigorous assessment and evaluation we learn together and from each other to build up the “Southshire” community.
Any individual, organization, or business can become a member of ACT if s/he or it:
- Signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ACT,
- Attends at least 3 coalition or committee meetings per year, AND
- Participates in at least 1 event, initiative, or committee in addition to Youth Appreciation Day.
