Bennington Youth Thrive connects youth and families to offerings from local organizations that create safe and fun spaces for young people to grow and connect, help youth build skills and supportive relationships, and empower them to make healthy choices!

    In 1995, Ann Gengarelly opened The Poetry Studio, a place where people ages 7 to 17 could engage deeply with nature and tune into their own inner creativity.

    In this presentation, Ann and her husband and collaborator Tony, are joined by Vermont Poet Laureate Chard deNiord (2015-2019) and former Poetry Studio participants to discuss young peoples’ poetry and art as a significant creative practice with important personal and social consequences: compassion and connection; inclusion and diversity; nurturing and healing community. https://benningtonmuseum.org/event/another-world/

    Join local artist Amy Anselmo at W. Collective for a fun and creative workshop where you will create one-of-a-kind jewelry or cool-lage creations using upcycled materials or other found treasures.This event is free for youth under 18 as part of Youth Appreciation Month in Bennington.   • 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Menstrual Equity Film Screening


    In honor of Menstrual Hygiene Day, ACT and Planned Parenthood of Northern New England for a free screening of “Pandora’s Box: Lifting the Lid on Menstruation,” a film that explores menstrual inequity and period poverty around the world.
     
    This event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6:30, and the screening will begin at 7 PM.
    Before the film, you will have an opportunity to learn more about local and statewide efforts to increase access to menstrual products for all, including the Take Care Project, an initiative to expand youth access to free menstrual products and personal care items in the Bennington community. Thanks to our sponsors at Diva International, we will have a limited amount of free DivaCups for attendees.
     
    We will also be collecting menstrual products for local youth in need. Bring an unopened box of tampons or pads to contribute! Can’t make it but still want to get involved? Contact coordinator@actbennington.org

    The Youth Leadership Group (YLG) is a partnership between ACT and Mt. Anthony Union Middle School. The YLG is a youth coalition that focuses on peer-to-peer substance use prevention and mental health initiatives. The YLG meets weekly in Room 1601.     MCity Students is a youth group that meets weekly on Tuesdays from 6:00pm – 7:30pm to help the students of Bennington build relationships with one another, develop leadership skills, give back to our community, and learn about what faith really looks like.     Please join Queer Connect + the Better Bennington Corporation for our first in-person Pride since our inaugural Pride in 2019! We are so excited to come back together and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community as an act of love and healing!
     
    The Parade starts at 11 AM by way of Main Street starting at the Bennington Museum and making our way through downtown Bennington.
     
    Immediately after we’ll have a Block Party at the Splash Pad + Pleasant Street + School Street.
    Come enjoy live music, drag performances, food trucks, & family-friendly activities!
