She is nearly finished with her doctoral degree from Southern New Hampshire University. Dawn teaches Zumba for fun and reads for relaxation.

Why are you an ACT Member?

I am an ACT member because in addition to working in the public school system for over 2 decades, I am a parent/grandparent in Bennington and want to be a part of the great community resource that ACT is.

What do you love most about living and/or working in Bennington?

I have lived my whole life in Bennington. I love that it is small enough that my husband says (pre-pandemic) that we can’t go through a grocery store without me talking to someone, yet we are close enough to larger cities across the borders to access anything Bennington can’t offer.

Top three songs on your current playlist:

They are probably Zumba songs… and lately I am listening to Rod Stewart’s “This Old Heart of Mine,” “Chasing Cars,” and “Wonder.” I have a long playlist I listen to while I am writing that is a little of everything.

What are you reading right now?

I am writing my dissertation so I am reading and coding interviews. I just finished a Kristin Hannah book and I loved Where the Crawdads Sing. I have an eclectic taste in books; I just love to read.

What are you doing to support your health and wellness lately?

I work on eating right every day. I teach Zumba four days a week and my watch reminds me to get up from my desk to walk when I am working.
