Member of the Month: Camille Kauffman

Meet our newest ACT Member!

Camille is the Program Director at Paran Recreations, known as Lake Paran. She graduated from University of Delaware in 2019 and moved to Bennington in 2020 to serve as Lake Paran’s AmeriCorps VISTA for 2 years before becoming director. Her current role merges her two interests of outdoor education and youth development. In her free time, Camille enjoys being active outdoors and cooking vegan delights.

Why are you an ACT member? Why do you work to support healthy youth?

I am an ACT member because I believe in fostering youth well-being in our community. Now more than ever, youth of all ages and backgrounds need support. At Lake Paran, we offer outdoor education programing in a third-space setting. Being in nature, exercising, at the same time learning to be caretakers of their local environment, is one way to support youth. I’m excited to work with fellow youth serving individuals/organizations at ACT so we can connect our unique community assets to better serve youth.

What do you love most about living and/or working in Bennington?

I love the locality of everything. From how close I can escape to the mountains to the abundance of local agriculture. Grocery store apples are not the same since living here! In Bennington, I can truly be the locavore that I always aspired to be.
