Youth Leader Spotlight: Liz

My name is Liz (any pronouns) and I’m 16. I’m a part of the YourSpace youth committee of ACT Bennington & Queer Connect, and also a part of the drama club at Mt. Anthony Union High School. In my free time, I enjoy making art and music, as well as reading and writing.

Why are healthy choices important for youth?

I believe healthy choices are important for youth because everyone deserves to be kind and loving to their body. Healthy choices can help make progress in loving yourself.

What does leadership mean to you?

Leadership means to help. When you are a leader, you know you have a role to play and that role is to support and help people.

What are some of your favorite spaces or things to do in the community?

Some places around the community I like to spend time are at Willow Park on nice days, to walk around the park and be in the sun, as well as at the library, as I love to read.

In what ways can adults in our community support youth?

Adults can help youth by taking time to talk, respect, listen, and overall communicate with the youth in our community.

What do you do to take care of your mental and physical health?

I take care of my mental and physical health by taking time each day to relax, put my phone away and any other distractions, and take my dog Benny on a walk.

If you were any emoji, which would you be?

If I was an emoji I think I would be the calm emoji (😌) or the face with the hand over mouth (🤭) because those two I think describe the sides of myself.
