The Take Care Project, an initiative of ACT Bennington, invites the community to participate in their Summer Suds-a-Thon!
During the month of July, donations of soap and shampoo will support area youth and families in combating hygiene poverty, which is a lack of access to personal care products that are needed to maintain health and wellness.
“Soap, shampoo, and other basic necessities are expensive, and not allowable under SNAP benefits,” says ACT Director Dare Chammings. “The absence of these products can have significant impacts on physical and mental health. Everyone deserves to feel clean, but cost and access are real barriers. We see the Summer Suds-a-Thon as an act of community care—we hope folks will show their support!”
Donations of new, sealed soap and shampoo (travel sized welcome) are accepted during open hours at:
- Bennington Rec Center/BFYMCA, Bennington
- Powers Market, North Bennington
- Solomon Wright Public Library, Pownal
- Donate anytime online at actbennington.org/take-care/#donate
Donations will be distributed across the Take Care Network, which includes local food pantries, schools, and health agencies.
