We asked and you answered. We wanted to know what Bennington-area youth did during Vermont’s “Stay Safe, Stay Home” order to stay active and safe. We received some great responses. Below are our top three.
Meet Grace, Grade 8. She said:
During quarantine some things I like to do to keep my mind and body fit are:
- Spinning while reading. I enjoy doing this because I can read and exercise at the same time.
- I love practicing Aikido sword fights with my dad. I love doing this because my dad and I can do something together and have fun.
- I love folding paper cranes while relaxing. My goal is to fold 1,000 paper cranes because our neighbor has been deployed. I was reading a book called Sadako And The 1000 Paper Cranes in the book she folds 1000 paper cranes when she is diagnosed with cancer. It is said to be that if you fold 1000 paper cranes you will not get sick or hurt; I am folding them in honor of my neighbor.
Meet Evelyn, Grade 8
I believe if you find something you enjoy and are passionate about it will help you stay healthy physically and mentally. Do what you love. There’s hope, don’t do dope!
Last but not least meet Sophia, Grade 8
To stay healthy during these hard times, my mom and I are trying to hike a new trail every day. Spending this time with my mother and enjoying the outdoors is the silver lining to the current situation.
Thanks again to all of those who submitted wonderful photos. Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a great summer.
